Easy Strawberry Smoothie and the Leibster Award!

First off.. Thank you, Lauren at Working Mom Magic for the nomination! The Leibster Award is a super fun way to find new blogs and support new bloggers -- I am so honored Lauren chose me as one of her nominees! When I first started blogging, I did TONS of research and kept hearing that the majority of bloggers quit after six months, well I have been blogging for seven months and have no plans to quit! So, a huge thank you to Lauren and all my followers for the support over these past few months. This nomination mean so much to me... xo

Now the rules for the Liebster award are simple:
1. Thank the blogger that nominated you
2. Answer 11 questions asked by the blogger
3. Provide 11 random facts about yourself
4. Nominate 5 or more bloggers
5. Let all of the nominees know they have been nominated
6. Write 11 new questions for your nominees

  1. What's one piece of advice you'd give your younger self?  Hmmm, probably to enjoy every moment and not always worrying about reaching the next goal. The older I get, the more I have learned to live in the moment and enjoy exactly where I am in life.
  2. Do you have any pets? Yes, our sweet pup, Jade. She is a rescue we adopted when she was 10 weeks old from Great Dog Rescue New England (GDRNE). She is a cocker spaniel/coonhound/border collie mix. We adore her and cannot imagine our family without her!
  3.  How did you choose the name of your blog? I had always played around with different names for my potential blog and one day thought of "Fresh Mama" and it stuck! If you know me and my friends, you know there is more than one reason we consider ourselves "fresh". Lol!
  4. What is your all-time favorite meal? Home cooked spaghetti and meatballs with salad and fresh baked bread.
  5. What is your favorite book? I love to read, but I think the one book I have read in the past few years that impacted me the most would be Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. An amazing true story of endurance, survival and ultimately forgiveness. If you have not read it, I highly recommend it!
  6. What is a name you hate based on a bad grade school experience with someone? Hmmm, I plead the fifth on this one. Never know who reads my blog!
  7. Describe yourself in three words. intelligent, loving, stubborn
  8. If you could decorate your home from one store/catalog, what would it be? Ballard Design
  9. What is your favorite blog post you've written, so far? Oh, definitely our Fresh Mama Mason Jar Gift Party, I love my FMCC ladies and am so thankful for the partnership I have with my friend Dawn and all the amazing ladies in the group. This party was so much fun and we will definitely be having another one this holiday season!
  10. Tell me three Instagram accounts you think everyone should be following. setheatsoatmeal (yes, Seth eats oatmeal and he takes pictures of it. Hilarious!), alanachernila, marionberry
  11. What is your favorite song to sing when no one is around? I don't sing, but I may or may not blast Beastie Boys and Rage Against the Machine while alone in the car (yes, I was a teenager in the 90's)
11 Random Facts About Me

1. I moved 9 times between college and our current home.
2. My husband and I just celebrated 20 years together since our first date! (Our lucky 13th wedding anniversary will be in August).
3. My best friend and I have known each other since we were 3 years old. I have some amazing life-long friends and I don't know how I would survive without them!
4. I gave birth to both my babies without any pain medications. On purpose.
5. I do not drink coffee.
6. I hate to shop, unless I'm shopping for food!
7. As a girl I was obsessed with Egypt and have always wanted to see the pyramids. Hoping I can check that off the bucket list someday.
8. The weirdest thing I ever ate was haggis on a trip to Scotland as a kid. Gross.
9. Every night before bed I go look at my sleeping boys and wonder how I got so lucky and how they are getting so big so fast.
10. My absolute favorite TV show of all time is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
11. I love rain and thunderstorms.

The bloggers I am nominating are (sorry, I only have 3 to nominate):
Priscilla at Deceptively Healthy
Kiomy at City Hip in a Country Zip
Bridget at Bridget's Year of Cooking

Now here are my 11 questions for these ladies:
1. What is your favorite color?
2. What do you find to be the most difficult part of writing a blog?
3. What is one part of the world you hope to visit someday?
4. What has blogging brought into your life that is unique and special?
5. Do you have a habit that drives your loved ones crazy?
6.  What is one food you eat as often as possible?
7. What life experience has impacted you the most?
8. Do you have a hidden talent?
9. If you could have lived in a past era, what would it be?
10. Name one blog which inspires you the most.

Easy Strawberry Smoothie

1 cup water (or unsweetened almond milk)
1 cup crushed ice
1 package strawberry Shakeology (or strawberry protein powder)
1 tablespoon almond butter

Throw it all in the blender and mix up until smooth. Yummmy! I have been having one of these almost every day. I love to mix it up in the morning after my workout and then I can sip it while I get everyone ready for the day. Sometimes I use vanilla Shakeology with one cup frozen strawberries, but the strawberry is my absolute favorite! I am fresh out of Kale Cubes, but you can bet I will be adding a couple kale cubes once I'm stocked up with summer kale! 1. This was so much fun! Yep, I rarely drink coffee. Just the occasional iced decaf. I know I'm in the minority.
